Little Church Deacons:
The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies and sound judgment should be chosen for this office.
It is the duty of deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress. They shall assume such other duties as may be delegated to them from time to time by the session. They may be individually commissioned by the session to particular tasks consistent with the responsibility of their office. As the whole church is under the jurisdiction of the session, the board of deacons shall be under its Supervision and authority.

DEACONS: THE MINISTRY OF COMPASSION AND SERVICE
Recently, the Deacons visited our shut-ins and presented each of them with a gift basket of goodies, i.e. books, hand cream, a plant, scones, tissues, a card, and more. Many of them have called or sent notes of appreciation, not only for the gift basket, but for the smiles and words of encouragement during their visit together.
One show of appreciation, the glorious basket of Kalanchoe, on the table in the narthex, is from Mercy Smith (Narrows Glen).
Thank you, Deacons!
