The Elders at Little Church:

Elders are chosen by the people. Together with Ministers of the word and sacrament, they exercise leadership, government and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a particular Church as well as the church at Large. They shall serve faithfully as members of the session.

Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment.  Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and within the world.

It is the duty of Elders to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge.  Together with the pastor, they should encourage the people in the worship and service of God, equip and renew them for their tasks within the church and for their mission in the world.

Our Elders and their area of responsibility are:

Dave Coleman  Worship
 Pat Powell  Properties
 Justin Davis  Mission/Outreach
 Amy Trevino  Mission/Outreach
 Carla Pelster  Finance & Nominating
 Sharon Scott  Personnel
 Mike Englund  Lakewoodgrace

Session meetings are typically on the forth Tuesday of the month.

Minutes of the most recent session meeting follow below.

Lots going on in May!
  • Thanks to our church officers elected on May 6th to serve, and received by Session on May 15th: Elders Jim Pledger, Sharon Scott, and Rob Wilson, and Deacons Jack Grant, Bobbie Grant, Dede Powell, Lisa Semon, Pete Semon, Elaine Tierney, and Doug Wiseman.
  • Nearly 50 attended our Senior Prom on May 16th.  We had decorations, dinner, and Swing music.  Many helped.  Good work and good fun!
  • Pastors and some Session Elders met with new member candidates on May 20th and all nine of them became members!  Welcome Frank Ball, Kacia Fredericks, Adie Kleckner, Lizza Lockett, Al Soriano, Jenny Reid, Ryan Reid, Diane Tatham, and Nicole Zuger-Cheney to our church family!
  • We have been awarded a second $25,000 grant to further Lakewoodgrace.  This comes from a Presbytery fund for new initiatives in ministry.
  • We have a challenge of deterioration of the steeple and roof of our main campus sanctuary.  Your Session is trying to size up the cost and identify the source of funds.  It seems likely that, unless an angel or other such solution appears, funds from our recent capital campaign will be used.
  • The Mission/Outreach ministry is leading us in a (friendly) takeover of Appleby’s for breakfast on June 2nd.  Ticket sales help to fund this summer’s youth camp.
Please pray that we continue to look to God for guidance in our ministry.  Blessings — Clerk of Session Alan Macpherson
