The Elders at Little Church:

Elders are chosen by the people. Together with Ministers of the word and sacrament, they exercise leadership, government and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a particular Church as well as the church at Large. They shall serve faithfully as members of the session.

Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment.  Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and within the world.

It is the duty of Elders to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge.  Together with the pastor, they should encourage the people in the worship and service of God, equip and renew them for their tasks within the church and for their mission in the world.

Our Elders and their area of responsibility are:

Dave Coleman  Worship
 Pat Powell  Properties
 Justin Davis  Mission/Outreach
 Amy Trevino  Mission/Outreach
 Carla Pelster  Finance & Nominating
 Sharon Scott  Personnel
 Mike Englund  Lakewoodgrace

Session meetings are typically on the forth Tuesday of the month.

Minutes of the most recent session meeting follow below.

Your Session met on a sunny evening, April 24th, indoors, to go over what’s going on in our church.  Topics included the following:
  • We began with a devotion on Romans 10 and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and the need for us to listen and be fed, by preaching and the Word.  Remember that Session is not so much a bunch of managers as a spiritual group striving to discern.
  • Make A Difference Day planned by the Mission/Outreach ministry is Saturday, April 28th, starting at 8:30 in Prairie Hall and ending with lunch.
  • New Deacons and Elders will be presented at the Congregational meeting Sunday, May 6th after combined worship.
  • Our own Shelly Shellabarger has been honored by the Emergency Food Network for his work that includes coordinating many of us volunteers to serve at EFN’s facility.
  •  Focus signups for the next term will be in May.
  • Mission/Outreach is also planning an Appleby’s takeover on June 2nd from 8 to 10 am.  Tickets are available and our proceeds will be used for mission.
  • The Lakewoodgrace team is discussing ways to celebrate our people, and ways to invite people to church.
  • The Deacons are doing good work on fellowship time Sundays and memorials, but could use some help.  Please ask them how you can help.
  • We have a new custodian, Michael Doni, formerly of the military.  Tyler Fox moved to Michigan to be nearer family.
Let’s keep pulling together to serve Him, enjoying one another as we do.  Blessings, Session Clerk Alan Macpherson
